SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE AGED 10 YEARS & ABOVE

About the Artist, (@golka_gallery):

My name is Liza Dwivedi. I'm a textile and embroidery artist. I would like to collaborate with you and share some of my knowledge. I'm doing embroidery since 10 years old. I know a lot of techniques such as cross-stitch, embroidery on tulle, threads painting, different type of stitches and 3D stitches. In Delhi, I have an embroidery studio Golka Gallery.  My team consists of under-privileged girls whom I give training and employment. The first technique I taught my team is the cross-stitch. They then learnt other techniques, stitches and styles, and slowly they graduate to more complex designs. So I have small experience in teaching.

Here's what you'll learn at this workshop:
Cross stitch is an easy and meditative craft that can be done by anyone. In this class,
you’re going to be completing a simple and pretty botanical cross stitch pattern. Even if you’re a complete beginner to cross-stitching or embroidery in general, I will show you everything you’ll need to know to be up and stitching in no time. This pretty project can be framed in an 6” embroidery hoop, ready to hang. You can use it for cushion cover or shopper and it also makes a great gift.
  • How to select your materials and pattern
  • Types of needles, floss, fabrics, hoops and frames used for cross stitch
  • How to prepare the fabric for a project
  • How to read your pattern
  • Preparing to stitch with basics such as threading your needle and cutting your floss to the right length
  • How to make different stitches of cross stitch (full cross stitch, half cross-stitch, back stitch)
  • How to follow your pattern
  • Tips and tricks (such as how to make the backside look the same as the front side)
  • How to finish your project

Materials Required:

  • Fabric for cross stitching (Aida fabric 15 count recommended), 10" x 10"
  • Embroidery floss: red, green, white, black (for better results 2 shades of red + pink, 3 shades of green). Recommended Anchor threads number: 35, 59, 264, 267, 292, 381, 893, white. It’s not necessary to use the same threads. You can choose your own colour pallet. - https://www.hoopables.in/floss
